Children

Age 3 to Grade 6

Sunday School (in English) meets at the same time as our Worship Services and provides an opportunity for children to discover Jesus as they explore God’s Word, the Bible.

All our teachers have Blue Cards and are held accountable in accordance with our Child Safety Code of Conduct.

Youth

Grades 7–12

U-Time is a vibrant English language gathering where young people from grades 7–12 worship together, are taught from the Bible and challenged to follow Jesus. U-Time meets at the same time as our Worship Services.

Fellowship and Food

At the end of all our Sunday gatherings there is an opportunity to catch up with people over afternoon tea at the church building patio.

Doing Life Together

Small Groups

At the heart of Southside are people connecting in small groups to encourage one other, grow in Jesus through studying the Bible, pray and minister together.

Groups meet at different times and places, are conducted in different languages (English, Mandarin, and Hmong) and have different formats. Some groups are gender and age specific, while others embrace a broad variety of people.

If you are interested in joining a small group please contact us.

Discipleship

All that we do at Southside flows out of Jesus’ call to, “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). Discipleship is both a natural outworking of the presence of the Holy Spirit and an intentional process.

Some of the intentional programmes we run are:

  • Christian Training Programme (CTP)—Built around Matthew’s Gospel, CTP is a six-unit course that introduces the student to the basic disciplines of Christian life and ministry.
  • Global Discipleship Programme (GDP)—A one-year experience that introduces participants to what the Bible says about global mission, the challenges of the “missional life” and some of the current trends in mission. The programme culminates in a short-term mission opportunity.
  • EQUIP: Training for Life and Ministry—Workshops that give people practical skills to enable them to live in and engage with the world as a follower of Jesus.

The Southside Internship

The Southside Internship seeks to establish a safe and intentional pathway to enable people to explore God’s call on their lives, as they move towards “vocational ministry”.

Youth

UFO meets every second Friday during the school term. For young people at high school it is full of fun and intentional discipleship.

The SIC Ladies Group

The SIC Ladies Group meets every fortnight on Tuesdays with a view to sharing from the Bible and from God's work in their lives.

For more information about this group please contact the SIC office at church.office@sic.org.au

The Ladies Group have also started a blog 'The Ladies Loop' and invite you to 'join us in our adventures' by visiting theladiesloop.wordpress.com

In the Neighbourhood

As followers of Jesus we take seriously his challenge to “love your neighbour as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). Some of the ways Southside gets involved in the neighbourhood is through:

  • English Conversation Club—Meeting every Monday morning at 10am during the school term, the English Conversation Club provides an opportunity for people to practice their English-speaking and listening skills.
  • Centre for Grace—Through this “community centre” we are establishing appropriate programmes to support and encourage the culturally diverse people all around us.
  • Be the Light—A programme which encourages the people of Southside to engage with their neighbourhood through simple acts of kindness.
  • BRiTA Futures Program—As providers of this state government programme, we are seeking to build resiliency life skills in children, young people and adults from culturally and linguistically-diverse backgrounds.
  • Cyber Safety Workshop for Parents

Throughout the World

God’s longing for people from every ethnicity to know Him and enjoy His goodness is not a programme we do alongside other things, it is at the core of everything we are as the Church, and must shape our culture and practice.”
—Kevin Bird, Senior Pastor, Southside International Church

Some of the programmes include:

  • Global Discipleship Programme—Developing “World Christians”.
  • On Mission Together—Supporting and Praying for the work of the C&MA across Australia and the World.
  • Missional Friendships—Encouraging, supporting and ministering alongside individual members of the Southside family who are involved in Global ministries.
